Mount Meru lies in Arusha National Park, surrounded by forest, wildlife, and beautiful views of Kilimanjaro on clear days. The trek is less crowded than Kilimanjaro, featuring lush forests, rhino sightings, and spectacular crater views. This itinerary is moderate, suitable for fit beginners and intermediate trekkers.

Day 1: Arusha – Miriakamba Hut (2,500 m)
- Activities:
- Meet your guide in Arusha and drive 2–3 hours to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park.
- Trek through dense forest and wildlife-rich areas.
- Distance/Time: 8 km / 4–5 hours
- Accommodation:Miriakamba Hut (basic camping)
- Highlights: Forest, views of Momella Lakes, wildlife sightings (buffalo, monkeys, birds)
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut (3,570 m)
- Activities:
- Trek through montane forest into moorland.
- Cross alpine vegetation with views of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru’s crater.
- Distance/Time: 9 km / 5–6 hours
- Accommodation: Saddle Hut (basic camping)
- Highlights: Crater rim views, wildlife, stunning sunset over Kilimanjaro
Day 3: Saddle Hut – Summit (4,566 m) – Miriakamba Hut
- Activities:
- Early morning summit attempt (usually around 1:30–2:00 AM).
- Trek to the peak and descend back to Saddle Hut, then to Miriakamba Hut.
- Distance/Time: 12 km / 10–12 hours (round trip)

- Highlights: Summit views of Kilimanjaro and Arusha National Park, crater, sunrise
Day 4: Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha

- Trek downhill through forest back to Momella Gate.
- Drive back to Arusha.
- Distance/Time: 8 km / 3–4 hours trekking, plus 2–3 hours drive
- Accommodation: Overnight in Arusha (hotel of choice)
